Thank you Latifa Al Shamsi

A fellow blogger from UAE, has recently shed some light through her lovely blog on a unique UAE product that might attract fashion lovers like myself!

The product is a well stitched hand bag organizer, note that its mainly suitable for medium to big sized hand bags. I purchased the product from blingblingsabaya.com a Dubai based online shopping website selling exclusive second hand designer hand bags and UAE's very own DROP IT hand bags organizers.

I love my organizer so much I decided to post an entry about it, one more thing worth mentioning since I ordered my organizer online I've done so during the weekend. To be more specific on a Friday and it took the order 2 days to arrive so if you will request for the one day option make sure to place the order on a week day.

Happy Shopping to all ;)

Possibility of Rain in Oman 30.10.2011

As many people having being praying for rain in Muscat, Oman for months and months we didn't see much of it since the start of 2011.

We had a massive dust cloud few weeks ago and that was all.

Well, that's not the case for the time being or at least its seems to be not for the time being.

Following the local news two days ago, I came to find out about this wonderful low pressure floating in the mid of the Arabian Sea which I pray so hard will bring us a lot of good rain. I emphasize on the good part. :)

Even though the synopsis charts clearly show its drifting away very slowly from the Omani shore, which am starting to get a little depressed about every 2-3 hours. Due to one big fact, its a slow moving low pressure system, if it keeps the same speed it will slowly shift its course towards Pakistan or Iran once it has gone past Ras Al Haad.

So far the lucky areas which will witness the rain over the next 6 hours or so are as follows:

1. Sur
2. Qurriat
3. Muscat (Possibly)

I highly doubt Dhofar will have much of this low pressure rain over the next few days as its obviously moving towards the Northern parts of the Omani coast.

Local Store: Be Beautiful Boutique

In comparison to Boutique Muscat which a ridiculously over priced Muscat based boutique I think that Be Beautiful Boutique will be able to survive the difficult clothing industry in Muscat! Heck, they might even be the best in town.

With their simple, elegant designs which mainly consist of tops, blazers and a few dresses I think they might become extremely popular in a short period of time!

I will leave you with some pieces from their collection as shown on their Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Be-Beautiful-Boutique/183483231730970

Royal Opera House Muscat

The opera house in Muscat has been paid a special kind of visit by His Majesty the Sultan Qaboos of Oman, a soft opening if I may say so.

The building looks spectacular day & night, I have came across this video on the Opera house produced by a Dubai based agency TBWA\Raad on youtube.

Its simply amazing! <3

Frank and Ella - The Lady is A Tramp why is it so much better than Lady Gaga's version with Tony Bennets?

For so many reasons but the most important one is; the fact that old school is just simply unbeatable.

Lady Gaga lacks the class of Ella Fitzgerald, Tony & Frank are impossible to compare to each other because each one has his own greatness plus it'd be extremely stupid to say that one is better than the other.

Not saying that Gaga is bad its just that this is a song that will always be nicely remembered through Frank & Ella.

Sorry Gaga, try again..

Latest Sukar.com purchase!

Am loving my latest online purchase which was delivered to my apartment by sukar.com! The excitement is hard to describe when something so elegant arrives in a nicely packaged box (which I have left in my car because I had to show my sisters my new bracelet which am in love with so much!)

I must share with my online readers one fact about sukar.com which am not too fond of; they are SLOW! I placed an order on 29th August and my order arrived from Dubai to Muscat on the 29th September, a whole month to deliver a bracelet! I think its a serious issue they should look into improving soon or else they will lose a lot of customers because I am surely not a patient girl, I forgot that I placed an order but it was a nice surprise at the end!

I will leave you with pictures I took with my new canon lens ;)

My Look At Me Bracelet (golden/clear)

Am going to wear it as a daily bracelet, totally loved it! <3

ghd review

Little N a fellow blogger requested a blog entry reviewing ghd's greatest creation of all times the ceramic flat iron. The ghd cermaic flat iron is the first choice most hair stylist depend on mostly for events like fashion shows & awards! Even Oprah uses one & the transformation seen after using it is just jaw dropping. Within a few seconds you can straighten, curl & create big waves; it can straighten the curliest of all hairs within seconds. It's magical and it won't disappoint you, I promise.

I started using ghd in 2005 & ever since I never had to visit a salon to get my hair done. It simple to use, all you need to do is plug it to a power source and wait for about 15 secs till the plates have heated throughly a little red light with an accompanying beep sound start at the end of those 15 seconds and you are set to start using it.

The ghd flat irons are the strongest I have seen and the safest compared to other types which simply almost instantly burn your hair, ghd doesn't even without anti thermal protecting spray it wouldn't burn your hair as long as it's not being used on naked unprotected hair on daily basis. Their website also offers a good range of hair products which I can never say enough about how great & how reasonably priced they are. If you are planning to buy a flat iron I'd strongly recommend a ghd, so buck up! ;)

Why is Jebel Akhder still underdeveloped?

Dear Mr. Al Khalili (Minister of Tourism),

Jebel Akhder is a popular destination which needs a serious development, my last visit to the place was great but accommodation wise I was disappointed beyond description. The place is breath taking but the hotel I stayed at was NOT!

The fact that there was one hotel with poor facilities & another being built which did take a long time to finish is just sad. Both are of poor quality, they are good for the campers or people who are looking for basic & cheap accommodation but nothing else. Entertainment is almost none existing over there, only thing an Omani can do in the evenings is BBQ... I suggest that you seriously start planning a luxurious spa resort, the Six Sense in Musandam should've opened in the Jebel. At least it'd be easy for people to access it hence its closer to Muscat, oh well.. We still have time to correct some of our mistakes!

The area can generate a lot of money provided that excellent services & new resorts & hotels (4+ star) are developed, if I was the minister of tourism I will make sure new exciting culture friendly projects (with limits to their culture friendly-ness level) get developed in Jebel Akhder because its a disappointing tourist destination in Oman.

I hope somehow this blog entry reaches you! This is what I want to see as a tourist in my own country.

Yours Sincerely,

Good Life in Muscat

The below picture is your answer.

The tailor shop is located in MQ, the shop's called Al Nfha trading. You should pay them a visit, all 3 tailors are from Morocco, very hospitable and very talented. I would've wished they allowed me to take photos but sadly it wasn't possible. :(

Shared Recipe: Home Made Nutella

Nutella is something I personally don't like but my entire family love. I decided to dig up an easy & trustable recipe from trusted page.

My favorite food blog is Mr. David L's. By far its the best food blog I ever came across, here is the recipe found on his blog:

Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
Two jars (about 1 cup each)
As noted, I wasn’t sure why they called for a small amount of almonds so I think you could get away with swapping out hazelnuts for the 1/3 cup (40g) of almonds and save yourself a trip to the store. I also think you could use all dark chocolate, and perhaps skip the honey, but since I have two jars of this homemade Nutella in my refrigerator, it’s going to be a while before I make any more.
Frankly, I was concerned when I was done at how liquidy the mixture was. But after a few hours of refrigeration, the spread was just the right texture for smearing on bread. Because a number of ingredient questions came up in the comments, so I’ve answered them at the end of the recipe.

1/3 cup (40g) whole almonds
1 1/3 cup (160g) hazelnuts
1 3/4 cup (400g) whole milk (see Notes)
7/8 cup (60g) powdered whole milk
3 tablespoons (40g) mild-flavored honey
pinch of salt
6 ounces (170g) bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
5 ounces (140g) milk chocolate, chopped (use one that’s at least 30% cacao solids)
1. Spread the nuts on a baking sheet, keeping the almond separate, and toast the nuts in a 350ºF (180ºC) oven, stirring a few times, for 10 to 15 minutes, until the hazelnuts are browned.
2. While they are roasting, warm the whole milk and powdered milk in a small saucepan with the honey and salt just until it starts to boil. Remove from heat.
3. In a clean, dry bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water, or in a microwave oven, melt the chocolates together until smooth.
4. Once the nuts are well-toasted, remove them from oven and use a spatula to place the warm hazelnuts in a clean tea towel, then fold them inside the towel and rub them vigorously to remove any loose skins. They don’t need to be pristine; just try to get as much off as possible.
5. In a food processor, grind the warm hazelnuts and almonds until they’re as fine as possible. You may not be able to get them completely smooth, depending on your food processor. (I have a brand new one and even after five minutes, there were little bits of nuts in mine, which is normal.)
6. Add the melted chocolate and continue to process the mixture, stopping to scrape down the sides of the work bowl, as necessary.
7. Once the mixture is smooth, add the warm milk mixture and process until everything is well-combined.
(The original instructions here said to strain the paste, which I didn’t do because I don’t mind the little bits of toasted nuts, but you can.)
9. Transfer the mixture into two jars and refrigerate until ready to use.
Storage: The Chocolate-Hazelnut Paste will keep in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Want to make your own ice-cream at home?

Ice cream in Muscat is a delicacy a person must enjoy mainly because of the awfully baking hot weather, so to make things very interesting for my readers I think its about time for me to introduce my latest kitchen gadget the mighty ice cream maker from Cuisinart.

I bought mine yesterday from Lakeland Muscat City Center, after 7 days of waiting & as promised by the store manager the ice cream maker has arrived! Am over the moon & can't wait to start using it! The ice cream maker comes with a manual and Lakeland has been extra nice for adding 17 different easy ice cream, italian gelato, frozen yoghurt, sorbet, ritas & slushy recipes! Totally cool, incase you are wondering the ice cream maker is 53.9 rials.

I love you Lakeland Muscat!

Abaya, abaya! Its that time of the year!

Yes, am not an abaya person but when it comes to abayas I wear them as per my taste & not somebody else's.

Am not a drama queen dresser or the common attention seeking Khaliji girl, well at least not anymore. I wear my gamboo3a down & I don't show hair. Having said that it doesn't mean that I don't look chic, am chic but with limits & my mission is to respect my religion.

I should start posting some of my own designs soon.

Btw, those of you who are looking to buy new abayas all of you should head to Al Jawhara designs in Al Khuwair for some neatly designed abayas, majority of their abayas are between 70-85 rials. Reasonable!

Cooks Heaven in Muscat City Center Lakeland Says Hello Muscat!

Yes, yes & YES!

Lakeland at last opened! The wait is over, the anticipation and the gossip is old news & if you heard the rumor but never saw the banner then you owe Lakeland in Muscat City Center a visit ASAP! ;)

Warning: not for the weak hearted peeps like myself.

So, lets get down to business. I bought 9 items & paid in total R.O 30.900! Not bad compared to the expensive Tavola.

So I got me:

2 Ramekins (Will make some seriously yummy chocolate deserts with these bad ass babies)

2 Large food containers. Two sizes one was for R.O 1.400 & R.O 1.300 (Good for when I visit my parents, can always stock up on the home made bread and other baked goods made at home)

2 Poach Pods R.O 4.000 & poach pod lift (I've always wanted to make my own poached eggs in the morning & finally I can!) They also sell 20 egg poaching bags for R.O 2.400!

One large roasting pan for R.O 8.900 (Finally I can roast chicken enough to feed 6+ people in one go!)

2 Kitchen Cloth (The non-streaking type) ;) for R.O 3.800

Fridge-IT which is a piece of charcoal to get rid of all unwanted fridge, car or gym bag odors. R.O 3.500

I loved Lakeland & I will keep buying my kitchen ware and gadgets from them. Do pay them a visit they are totally worth it. :)
